Woman Charged For Deadly Motor Vehicle Accident

On Behalf of | Feb 20, 2020 | Car Accidents

Law enforcement authorities in Connecticut recently charged a woman in connection with a deadly car wreck. She is facing criminal charges for misconduct with a motor vehicle and failing to drive in the proper lane. Her bond was set at $25,000 for her apparent role in the motor vehicle accident, which she later posted. She was then released from police custody.

The accident occurred back on March 25, 2019. Shortly before the collision, a 45-year-old driver of a tractor-trailer had pulled over onto the shoulder of the road after he had completed a delivery. The man was standing in the shoulder behind the vehicle when a 79-year-old woman veered out of her lane and struck both the truck driver and the back of the tractor-trailer. She also hit one other vehicle before coming to a stop.

The truck driver was killed at the scene of the accident. It is not clear if anyone in the other car that was hit was hurt. The woman who allegedly caused the accident was injured and hospitalized. She was apparently not charged at the time of the wreck.

It can be extremely frustrating to wait for police to conclude a criminal investigation into a deadly motor vehicle accident. However, families in Connecticut do not have to wait for criminal charges to be filed in order to seek justice on behalf of loved ones. In fact, a negligent driver does not even have to be criminally charged in order to be held accountable through a wrongful death lawsuit.  The Maddox Law Firm, LLC has been investigating Connecticut fatal accidents for nearly thirty years.  If you or a loved one have been severely injured in a Connecticut motor vehicle accident or a loved one has lost their life, call the Maddox Law Firm today.
